The Constitution Party is our Nation's third largest political party and it is the fastest growing party--for some VERY good reasons!
The US Taxpayers Party of Michigan (USTPM) is Michigan's recognized affiliate of the national Constitution Party. The national party was formed in 1992 under the name of the Taxpayer's Party, but changed it's name in 1999 to the Constitution Party. The laws of the state of Michigan hindered the US Taxpayers Party of Michigan's intention to undergo the same name change, and therefore we still bear the original name. In just a few short years together with the national party, it has become the third largest party in America, and the fastest growing.
What does the USTPM stand for?
The USTPM adheres to the platform of the national party. In essence, we share your concern that our elected leaders are corrupting our government by neglecting to follow its constitutional boundaries. We believe we need to return our state and federal governments to their constitutional foundations. It is upon these foundations that our nation became the greatest nation in all of history - the greatest nation ever. For several decades our lawmakers have been abusing the power entrusted to them and bringing about detriment to our liberties and to our nation. It cannot continue forever. There will be a sad ending to this story if left unchecked.
The foundations cannot be repaired using new ideas. It cannot be repaired by implementing "Change". It must be repaired by returning to the principles upon which it was established. Anything short of that will result in continued failure, continued loss of liberties, continued loss of freedom, and progressive misery upon the American people.
The US Taxpayers Party of Michigan:
- Is absolutely Pro-Life.
- Favors the reduction of all Federal, State and local taxes in Michigan.
- Stands opposed to any other "family" union than that which our creator ordained; the marriage of one man to one woman.
- Believes that restitution should replace incarceration for criminal acts where applicable.
- Calls for election reform requiring among other things, the use of paper ballots.
- Favors simplification of the requirements for a party to get on the ballot. This would have many benefits including making it much easier for the common man to run for office.
- Stands in favor of eliminating mandatory insurance on automobiles and doing away with the meddling seat belt, safety seat, and helmet laws.
- Is for re-establishing the part time legislature in Michigan.
- Calls for the review of the alleged ratification of the 17th amendment to the U.S. Constitution
- Desires full disclosure of the state's budget.
- Is pro-gun.
- Wants to eliminate school tax for families who choose to home school or employ private schools for their children.
- Wants to become the 14th state to pass laws guaranteeing access to alternative medicine.
- Is pro-property rights.
- Is pro-tort reform.
- Favors family farms.
- Objects to the federalization of issues that belong in the purview of the individual states.
- Is pro-reasonable environmental law.
